The 2006 META Photo Contest

Its been said that "a picture is worth a thousand words" and "every picture tells a story". We perceive our world visually, with daily life experienced in a procession of moving images. Its how we navigate, how we interact, how we remember, and how we dream.

A photograph is a slice of life frozen in time. A memory of a unique moment which will never be seen again. Rather than racing by among all the other images of everyday life, a photograph is always there for you -to communicate, to entertain, to examine, to remember, and to enjoy.

It's often hard to put your finger on exactly what makes a great photograph. It could be nothing more than its artistic or technical quality, but more often its something more intangible - like the story it tells, or the emotions it evokes.

The photo contest entries show slices of the life of a biomed, ranging from graduation to retirement. The images represent everything from the daily work, to adventures in faraway places. We can see the dedication to customer service, public service, and service to humanity. They depict humor, friendship, teamwork and even artistic expression.

The links below show the photographs from our winners, and a few of the others that might have been. Congratulations all!
